I do wish Apples "Free" policy required products to be more straightforward about freeness, but more on that shortly.
This is a very well done app. I did experience some bugs during setup & configuration, but after that its been smooth sailing: a solid piece of self-synchronizing, multiplatform, multibrowser work. Does a good job on a broad range of password prompts, but does not intercept (i.e. respond to) the very rare site that throws up a pop-up dialog window for username/password instead of the more common in-page fields.
I have used Dashlane only on OS X & iOS, but not yet on Windows. I have used it in Firefox, Chrome, and Safari.
What you get for your ~Free~ download: 1 month of premium service.
After the 1 month, "free" gets you the app, tho with no more (multi-platform) self-synchronizing and no auto backups. Theres also a suggestion of limited sharing of secure passwords & notes (Premium specifically provides "unlimited sharing,") but theres no ready mention of what the sharing limitation is on the free plan.
Now, there is a facility where one can manually export, transfer and import data saved in Dashlane between various platforms, but "various platforms" includes only laptops & desktops. Without a subscription, Ive found the phone app all but useless. Heck, after the free trial ended, after 1 or 2 SW updates, any passwords on the phone app were gone, so enjoy that version of a Free App! To be honest, I actually havent tried the import/export facilities across platforms. Caveat emptor, baby!
Im sure the Dashlane people are not shady, but I do wish they would be more open & direct about the limitations of "free" and about the varieties of the Premium plan costs.
