Dashlane - Password Manager App Reviews

Too expensive

The subscription to this thing is way too expensive. You have to pay $30 a year just to get cross-platform syncing, a basic feature. I’m sticking with 1Password, which you can buy upfront and use for life. Oh, and this app has a weird bug where thumbnails don’t show correctly.

abc12345 is a safe password.

Problems: ***0- if you’re making a password, Dashlane thinks abc1234 is a weak password, but abc12345 is a STRONG password!! Are you kidding me? 1- eats up a lot of memory because constantly running and on lookout for fields to fill in, even if they are not passwords (very annoying). 2- The desktop app is pretty clunky, not easy to use, and found myself being more annoyed than satisfied. 3- The browser extensions, similarly, are not optimizing well enough, and found myself not being able to fill in passwords for certain websites (ie: Wall Street Journal & WSJ) because one of their subdomains is not included in the password manager. 4- Password generator is not set to default maximum security, (only letters, no symbols or digits, have to set manually, security risk…) 5- Password generator does not work frequently making new accounts, have to manually go into password generator and generate password 6- Price Yearly expensive subscription? Would not pay for this, did not even like it as free. PASS 7- Could not figure out how to store passwords locally, if these guys are hacked like LastPass, yet another security issue not making local storage easily accessible. 8-now all dashlane does is freeze safari and refuses to cooperate with chrome. will be removing momentarily…. P.S.[I was not paid for this review] Used the free 1password and liked it significantly more than Dashlane (and I got the premium 1-year Dashlane for free as a promo…).

Sometimes it is Priceless -This Version Needs To Be Updated-Terrible

This app used to be terrific and it worked without of flaw. But with the latest version update running El Capitan it needs some serious bug fixes. It is worth the money for the app’s Pro features when its working. Although most of the time it works great…the major updates can really be frustrating (depending on the browser youre using with it). I’ll be happy to change my two star review to a five-star once these bugs are worked out

Great App

Love this app!

Latest Install Corrupted

I have used Dashlane for several years now and have come to depend upon it. However, the latest install corrupted my working app. Now I can’t seem to get rid of the corrupted version and get a good version installed.

Good, but has some problems

The product is very good overall. However one REALLY annoying problem that I constantly have is that sites with multiple accounts act completely inncorrect. I see two issues constantly. #1 not all accounts show for a site when they clearly should. #2 Even when they do show, most of the time the username field is filled with a username that I didn’t select. These need fixed badly. I am a paid subscriber, and this is bad enough that I may end up looking for alternatives.

Good but need a major update

I used this app in the past. and it did work very good. I recently downloaded it again and saw there are major issues. I have the same problems as the reviewer DTYY. Please fix this. Thank you!

dashlane?

4 stars as i am still at input mode GREAT FEATURE—when i guess wrong password, dashlane will humor me, changing guesses until i get it right. while clicking desired transfers from safari, i [of course] hit some felonious key i’m out of that page—unable tio return ——MUST START OVER!!! WORTH DOING THOUGH FEEL;ING LESS N LESS BURDENED by p a s s w o r d s very GOOD HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Dashlane...getting it’s groove back, with user intervention

Dashlane has been a good product for many months. I have a premium account and have been mostly satisfied with it. Latest rev appears to be quite finicky with what browsers it integrates with and how it chooses to work. Currently I am working with the support staff to resolve its upgrade bungle. I will update the review after seing how attentive and helpful staff are. Be prepared to accept curated, canned answers for the first few volleys of requested support with Dashlane (using Zendesk). I’m sure that aids their metrics for “rapid response” when dealing with paid “premium” users.

The Best Password Manager

I’ve used Dashlane for over a year now and the experience they deliver is by far the best that I’ve seen from any of the major password managers out there. Worth the money!

Excellent Password Manager! BEST APP ON MY COMPUTER/IPHONE!!!!

I’ve been using dashlane for about 2 years now and I can easily say that I would be hard pressed to do without it. I innitially downloaded it for my iPhone, however it wasn’t until i installed it onto my computer that I realized it’s true value. Long past are the days of having passwords and usernames written down on paper, or in the notes app on your iphone. Safe, Secure, and most importantly FAST! I love the auto fill, ability to choose between different logins, ability to handle credit card and other information making purchases quick easy, and password protected. Being able to share passwords with my boss at work is perfect for those who are responsible for multiple logins. I am the internet manager at a car dealership, and i am responsible for keeping up with all the third party advertising vendors, as well as all of our internal systems and website. We have over 20 different logins, and many of them require you to change your password periodically. This is especially helpful when using dashlane because they ask you if you want to update your current password and replace it with the newly created one. They are constantly making improvements and the app has gotten better and better since I first started using the program. When I get a new computer or device, Dashlane is ALWAYS the FIRST program I install… it is an absolute must for those who want a fast, easy, secure, and convenient way to store/remember/autofill your passwords. On the premium version your passwords sync between all your devices, and are available when logged in on the web if you are on a computer that is not your normal machine. I cant say enough good things about this app. It has absolutely been one of the best apps I’ve every downladed for my iphone hands down. Keep it up Dashlane employees, you guys have done an excellent job, and I am certian that you are making strides to continue to improve an already excellent system. A++++

Increasing problems

Update February 2016-was regularly using almost 1 GB of ram and tried to saved passwords when it was an address field. I like the app when I first got it almost 3 years ago. It worked good. Memory usage was high but not terrible. Figured that was something that would improve. Instead memory usage went up, app wanted to start saving passwords for non password fields. I finally gave up and deleted the app. There are better apps out there that charge less, use less memory, and are better about saved fields. Update-January 2016-still hogging memory. I am finding an increasing number of sites where the app tried to save a password when its not a password field. Update September 2015-It is still a memory hog. I am also starting to find more fields where Dashlane tried to fill in more information. I still like it for storing passwords and payment information, but have stopped using the browser plugins. Update July 2015-It could be a 5 star app but it seems to break with every other update. it still is a memory and energy hog for what it does. It regularly uses 250-500 MB of RAM and is usually the second highest enegy user. This is a big deal if you don’t have muuch RAm and are working off of battery. Dashlane went through a period where every other update was breaking the app. They seemed to have fixed that problem and the app is stable and does exactly what it should. I like the ability to keep your credit cards in the app also. My only real complaint now is the amount of memory that the app uses. Between the app and the services to support it, it eats up over 500 MB of RAM

Simplify your password life

I heard about this app from Clark Howard. I have 3 pages of passwords printed out and had gotten to the point that it’s sooooo complicated to manage my passwords, getting hard to remember which password goes with which site, and making up passwords so that each one is different. So I tried this app. It is awesome! After using it for 3 months I went ahead and purchased the 5 year deal so that I can access it from my home computer, work, tablet, and cell. It works seamlingsly. I am a user of Dashlane for about 6 months now and highly recommend it.

This version needs help.

Since updating to this version I have to manually login to some sites. I used to love this app, now I’m considering a move to another app even though I’m subscribed until Apr 2017.

Cannot Disable 2factor Authentication

Great App, but cannot disable 2 factor authentication. I got a new phone and tried to add it to my new phone, but could not. Kept telling me to check internet connection. Then support tried to help for a week, but said had to refer me to 2nd level tech support. A MONTH later, and no one has ever contacted me. I contacted them again, but they are having issues and working on it. Now I cannot use Dashlane at all, so i am looking for another app! Waste of money!

Peace of Mind

After being hacked multiple times in Yahoo mail (grrr) I began searching for a password manager for additional security purposes. An article pointed me to Dashlane. I have been most pleased with Dashlane and admit I’ve not been hacked again. (Just jinxed myself, I think) Additionally, I am going through the process of switching from a PC to a Mac, and the migration process with Dashlane was easy peasy. I also have the application on my iPhone. Dashlane is easy to use, reliable and their customer support is magnificent. I highly recommend it.

YAY

PERFECT but I wish it worked on my phone

Would never install

Tried installing several times and it would not open. Very frustratd try to get this to work.

Major Issues - Dashlane 4 with OS 10.11.3 (crippling slowdown/freezing)

I’ve used this program for a couple of years now and I’ve found it very helpful. However, Dashlane 4 running under OS 10.11.3 on a MacBook is a disaster. While this may be specific to certain models or OS versions, at the moment I cannot run it at all if I want anything to function. It is a memory hog and cripples Chrome, Firefox and Safari. With Dashlane running it is essentially impossible to use browsers, scroll in a window, open a folder, etc. as Dashlane 4 slows everything to a crawl or completely freezes things. It’s a 4-5 star program when it works but this update is unusable.

Dashlane 4 with MacOS 10.11.3 Crashing on launch

Cannot open Dashlane. Dashlane quit unexpectedly every time. Very concerned. Pleas fix this otherwise excellent software.
